Fundamentally Changing the Future of Farming
A food desert is an area that lacks access to affordable fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 20% of Georgians live in food deserts and 36% of Atlanta is classified as a food desert.
As a result of the limited access to healthy produce, Georgia spends an estimated $2.1 billion per year to treat preventable diet-related illnesses. That's where Yapa Harvest steps in... We will be located right in the heart of metro Atlanta. The technology that will be used in our farm will allow for crop production independent of seasons, weather, and other external factors. That means we can make healthy, delicious foods accessible to all Georgians year round. |
Did you know?
More than 1 in 4 Atlanta residents have to travel more than 1 mile to access fresh fruits and vegetables. |
